Announcements

For the reception, the Master of Ceremonies (MC) is in the spotlight to keep the guests attentive. They will be announcing each portion of the evening -- first dance, speeches, and more.

The best way to have the MC announce this they way you would like is to provide the announcements in detail. To get the details right, here is what I would suggest.

STEP ONE
Make a list of who will be announced in. I can help you do this.

STEP TWO
Let's get those details right.

For each entrance, you have the option to decide what is announced. Here are options for a typical entrance:
  • Parents of the Bride, Mr. Joe Smith and Mrs. Jane Smith
  • Parents of the Bride, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith
  • Parents of the Bride, Mr. and Mrs. Joe and Jane Smith
  • Parents of the Bride, Joe Smith and Jane Smith
  • Parents of the Bride, Joe and Jane Smith
  • Parents of the Bride, Joe and Jane
  • Parents of the Bride, Mr. and Mrs. Smith

I recommend treating corresponding parts the same way, meaning...
  • If you use prefixes for the Parents of the Bride, then use the prefixes for the Parents of the Groom as well.
  • If you go informal with the Attendants of the Bride (Bridesmaids or similar), then also go informal with the Attendants of the Groom (Groomsmen or similar).

Each entrance will need an announcement.

...this includes the two of you! We will discuss this together, but here is a starting point to think about.
  • The classic: 'now for the first time, ___'
  • A different take: 'the newlyweds, ___'
And we'd need to know how you would like your names announced, you have lots of options, just like above. *just a reminder that this is something all of your guests will here, but it is not necessarily going in any legal documents, so you can have the announcement suit yourself.
  • Mr. Joe Smith and Mrs. Jane Smith
  • Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith
  • Mr. and Mrs. Joe and Jane Smith
  • Joe Smith and Jane Smith
  • Joe and Jane Smith
  • Joe and Jane
  • Mr. and Mrs. Smith

Formalities:
There will also be formalities to announce like the:
  • Mother-Son Dance
  • Father-Daughter Dance
  • First dance
  • Cake Cutting
  • Speeches
You can make these as formal, informal, or fun as you'd like.
