Ceremony Options for Mixed Culture Weddings

Picture
Each region and caste of India has their own traditions. By speaking with parents and older relatives you will get a sense of what is needed in those ceremonies. Nowadays there is also a lot to consider in terms of fusion ceremonies. Here are a few options to consider:

Separate…This means that if you are trying to do two different types of ceremonies, you simply have them separately. For example perhaps a church wedding in the morning, a Hindu wedding in the afternoon, and a reception in the evening.

Together…Weddings where the marriage rites of 2 religions are done at the same event, often with the majority of 'marriage 1' traditions, followed by the majority of 'marriage 2' traditions, with both 'marriage 1 & 2' traditions pronouncing you man and wife at the same time at the end.

Fusion…Traditions can be fused together, with an few elements of one religion and a few elements of another religion all part of one ceremony. These are usually highly personalized and individualized.

One…Simply selecting one set of marriage traditions to follow.
