Choreographed and Taught via YouTube Bollywood Dance

This project was a roller coaster. An unknown number of participants, doing a one-time-shot performance with zero practices. Performance relied on participants watching the video on their own, understanding formations and steps, and having the courage to get up and dance when the music started!

I created step-by-step videos (one for boys, one for girls) and full performance videos. I took into consideration lack of on-site practice, participants skill level, clarity in explanations of steps and formations to ensure final result looked good. I selected an upbeat, fun dance song, simple, easy to learn steps which would be easy for those familiar with Bollywood and those not familiar, and added formations which made the performance come alive without challenging the participants skill level. The final free-styling steps had the crowd going wild and the bride and groom jumping up to join the party that had started on the dance floor.

Choreographed and Taught Bollywood Dance

This was a great project - 6 friends of the bride and groom (in this case all local women), weekly practice for about 6 weeks, and a beautiful synchronized performance to show for it! It was tons of fun and the audience, bride, and groom loved it!

I took care of song selection, practice space, music for practice, choreography, and everyone pitched in to beg/ borrow/ dig out coordinated outfits. In choreographing I took into account amount of time for practice, participants skill level, wedding appropriateness of song, and keeping practices fun and on track.
