Photography Styles for South Asian Weddings

When looking at photography, look at the predominant style. That is what most of your photos will look like. If you want 1-2 with a different look and feel, usually that can be accommodated. Some couples ask 'Can I just tell my photographer what style I want?' This is not recommended. Change their style is like asking them to write with their non-dominant hand, they can do it, kind of, but what comes naturally is their own style - they take photos in that style every weekend, edit them every day, and see the finished product when they look through their lens. So embrace their existing artistic vision and style and make the most of it. The best way to do this is to select a photographer that matches your style intrinsically and you will enjoy amazing results.

Below is a beginners guide to photography styles for South Asian weddings. See what resonates with you to help narrow your search for 'which photographer is right for me'.

These are broad categories and there may be options for overlap or 'in between' style options but this can start your search in the right direction.

Often photographers will include a handful of B&W shots, but if you want all B&W, you'll want someone who specializes in it, because most of us (artist or not) see the world in color and capture it with that in mind
