There are a few different attitudes the host can take when planning a wedding:
Attitude affects everything from who is invited, to how the day is planned, to which hotel guests stay in. Here are some examples:
Host Approach – host keeps personal planning easy and guests plan their own hotel stay
Guest Approach – host arranges for guests to stay at a convenient hotel, have pre-negotiated room rates, possibly arranges a shuttle bus to wedding events allowing guests to skip the hassles of driving and getting directions
Host Approach – invitations are based on individual friendships and not social circles, this allows the host to maximize invites, a person merely in the ‘group’ is left out
Guest Approach – invite the traditional/expected people to avoid sticky political situations
