The Five S's to dress your best on wedding day:        Steamer

6/2/2016

Stop trying to iron heavily embroidered, delicate fabric with needlepoint precision with an iron that’s 3 inches wide, could melt the fabric any moment, and on top of that sometimes fluctuates in temperature. Steam! Steam, steam, steam. After doing one wedding with a steamer, and subsequently purchasing one for my own home use (and to field test them a bit) I have sworn to recommend steamers to every bride I come across. Use it now, use it for your big day, use it on mens, womens, childrens, household, basically anything. One of my favorite perks for Indian weddings is that with a few helpful hands, you can actually steam a sari in about 2 minutes, no joke. Even by yourself, it is far easier than ironing and there is no big risk of damage. Many people ask what I use, I bought a full size Jimmy steamer and I intend to use it from now till forever. If you ask me, I recommend you do the same. If you are shy on price point, put it on your registry and get a little help from all those people who are eager to give you something you’ll actually use and cherish.

It is time to select those special few who will stand by your side as say 'I do'. Here are the top three things to consider:
  • Select someone who loves you, can handle a little bit of crazy from you, and helps you to be your best.
  • She has a backbone and will help make what You want actually happen on the wedding day.
  • Able to attend! If your best friend is away in the peace corps, you may need to ask someone else.

Valentine’s Day – Getting real about Love

Love is not something we study or are ever sat down and taught. Often we learn by example and love is a little more complex than meets the eye. Take a moment to learn what experts have to share on the subject. Give each of you a book on love, try something palatable and easy to read like The 5 Love Languages. It may be a bit cliché, but it became a success for a reason. You don’t know unless you try. And who wouldn’t like to know more about love?

Valentine’s Day - For Her

Sometimes the pressure is on for finding a good gift for your favorite girl, here is my tip for you. Give her something for bath and body with a hint of romance. Things like bubble bath with a few candles are nice. If you are in a more intimate relationship perhaps edible massage oil can be added into the mix. The more senses you can engage the better, so perhaps those chocolate covered strawberries would be nice too or a few candy hearts.

Valentine’s Day - For Him

Man-ly gifts can be hard to come by, but I’ve got you covered. Give him a pair of cufflinks (oh no, you think, not that, too corporate) but here is where it really is personal and fun. There are cufflinks inspired for practically any interest – video games, star wars, gears, lighters with real fire, hidden usb drives (in case your man is into 007) So take a look at a few of the top contenders here. Even if you don’t love the idea, the cufflinks themselves are pretty cool.

Valentine’s Day - How About a Home Cooked Meal?

Whether you were trained by Mario Batali, or only good at order a pizza, your actions to make the night special are what really count. Here are a few easy steps to make your meal together a little something special for Valentine's Day.
  1. Food - Simple or ornate, from home or outside, food is food and a necessity of life.
  2. Lighting - Create a little ambiance. A few unscented candles (candle smell and food smell should not compete). Turn off the lights or dim the lights or use a few lamps to change the mood of the room.
  3. Special Drinks - Something special in a special glass. This can be champagne in flutes, or wine in wine glasses, or flavored water in a wine glass or other stemmed glassware.

Venturing into home cooking and want some help, try one of the many services who home deliver pf what you need, one such service is Blue Apron.

For something a little more daring, allow me to quote the manufacturer on this one: Make one-of-a-kind art. Each kit allows couples to capture the beauty of intimacy in a new and elegant way by bringing the canvas to the bedroom. What's left is a striking painting that leaves a tangible piece of your bond to hang and celebrate for years to come.

It is all non-toxic and made in the USA. Check out the Uncommon Goods: Love Is Art Kit.
